Mr. McNulty’s and Mr. Land’s Classroom Rules:

1)      Be seated and ready to learn when the bell rings.

a.      I expect that everyone since they are assigned to classes within the ninth grade wing of the school to have adequate time between classes to arrive on time, be seated, and have materials out and ready to learn (I need to make the most of the 8,190 minutes I have with you this school year).  Failure to comply with these points will result in the following:

                                                               i.      First offense:  1st Verbal Warning

ii.      Second Offense:  2nd Verbal Warning

                                                            iii.      Third Offense:  Parental Notification

iv.      Fourth Offense:  Referral to Principal

2)      Treat all members of the class and their belongings with respect.

a.      Allow for the free forum of ideas and opinions, as this will benefit all class attendees by illustrating new points of view and critical thinking.  I hold this rule very highly throughout our class.  We can have fun while we learn by laughing and playing, but we must be respectful of all students throughout this time.  Consequences for disobedience to this rule will result in consequences as referenced in previous rule.

3)      Be responsible for your behavior and all scheduled assignments.

a.      You are no longer in middle school.  I expect everyone in class to act as a model citizen in class.  In order to get respect, you must give respect.  All scheduled assignments are due at the beginning of class on the due date given.  All late assignments will not be graded or recorded.

4)      Follow specified directions regarding both individual and group work assignments at all times.

a.      You can expect to receive directions and a grading rubric for each assignment given for homework or project.  Please follow all directions carefully and complete assignments on time.  Severe consequences will be enforced by administration if found to be guilty to academic dishonesty.

5)      No eating or drinking at any time within the classroom.

a.      This is a school-wide rule that I hold near and dear to my heart.  We have a 45-minute class.  You will not starve or die of thirst throughout my class period.  No exceptions.  You will be removed from class and sent to the counselor if found to be violating this rule.

6)      Please follow all supplemental rules and regulations as stated within the Colonial School District Code of Conduct

  • Rules are set in place to act as a safety net for all students within the school.  They are notthere to make you angry.  I must enforce these rules to ensure that every student is given a fair opportunity to learn and have fun within the classroom.  I feel that all of us have the chance to make our class the smartest ever!  We can achieve this when all of us agree to follow the rules and remain respectful to all involved.

7)      Have fun while you learn!

  • I want to teach this class to you as if you are paying $30,000 a year to attend.  I will do my very best to ensure that all students are up to date on knowledge of material.  I want us to have a great time in class, with plenty of laughter and learning!  I cannot wait to work with you this coming school year!
